November 16th – January 4th
Southern California to Milwaukee, WI
U.S.A
The triangles are where we camped. We spaced out our drives great until the final push home… Denver to Milwaukee in one day… 14 hours :/
Even though we had just been home for a wedding we decided to drive all the way home from Southern California to Wisconsin in five days. We saw a couple of neat things on our way home, so we thought we would share them with you.
Nevada
Funny roadside attraction at a gas station… also… really expensive gas >:0
We got to the Las Vegas area early so we stopped by Red Rock Canyon. Our National Parks pass got us in for free!
Wild Burro Crossing! We hope we see one… we didn’t 🙁
The rocks really are red.
And there are pictographs!
The closest we got to the Vegas Strip. Not our scene.
Found a campsite just East of Vegas. You don’t have to go too far away from Vegas to find nature again.
Sunset Time!
Leaving our campsite. One of the best pics we’ve gotten of Tina yet.
Utah
We quickly drove through Southern Utah and only spent one night, but from what we could see from the highway, this place is amazing. Can’t wait till we come back!
Just a rest stop in the middle of nowhere Utah!
Another rest stop.
How we spent most of five days.
Colorado
🙂
Another really cool drive through a canyon.
Treating ourselves to dinner in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Burgers 🙂
We spent another day in Grand Junction, so we checked out a local brewery. It was also a place to stay warm and hang out with the locals.
Ugh! It gets really cold out at night. Waking up to frost on the car and tent.
Driving through the mountains to Denver. Lots of snow up there. At least the roads were clear.
Spent a day touring Denver. Took a tour of the capital building. This is what it looks like from the outside in model form.
Learning about Colorado politics.
View of downtown from the top of the capital building.
Tucked in a corner on the top floor of the capital is a photo of John Denver. We found this to be hilarious! I mean he’s not even from Denver.
Laura’s bike inception.
Had to take Camrin to the nerdiest bar in town.
An old-school arcade bar!
It’s a pretty cool bar.
Another dinner treat! Mexican food 🙂
And our Denver hosts! Thanks, Sarah and Cal for sharing your home 🙂
Nebraska, Iowa, and Wisconsin
We crammed the rest of our drive home into one very long driving day. About 14 hours to Milwaukee.
One of the only pics we took that day. No offense midwest states, but you are boring to drive through. Plus Iowa and Wisconsin we didn’t get to until after dark.
Thanks for reading our blog. We’ll post a few pics from our holidays in our next post, then it’s back on the road. Up next… Austin, Texas!
