November 26th – January 8th
Milwaukee, WI to Austin, TX
Wisconsin to Austin
Home for the Holidays
In case you didn’t know where Milwaukee was.
We spent a little over a month taking a break from life on the road in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We spent the break enjoying time with our families and friends and celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. We also tried to make our blog better and get caught up on it. However, with so much going on, that was easier said than done.
Here are a few photos from our time at home.
Happy Holidays!!
Camrin and her Brother take their dogs to the doggy park.
Camrin’s Mom’s dog, Sadie, aspired to be a show dog.
Laura got to see her Niece and celebrate her birthday.
And take her to a winter festival where she got to ride in a fire truck.
It snowed a little… BOO!
We went to a Holiday Flannel Party with a bunch of our friends!
Laura got to work on a production as a PA, but it involved dressing up like a stupid elf!
But she got to help turn an abandoned mall into a winter wonderland, which was pretty cool.
Present time with Laura’s family 🙂
We even got to see Camrin’s Grandma! We played UNO and Laura didn’t come in dead last for a change… Camrin did!
Back to Adventure!
We had a wonderful time back home, but the road was calling again. A few days after the New Years we packed up Tina and headed for Austin, Texas!
Our route to Texas!
Leaving Milwaukee the thermometer said what?!
We still have a longs ways to go.
Southern Illinois is pretty boring.
We stopped in St. Louis for five minutes. It was freezing there too.
Our first hotel on our trip. We caved in when we saw how cold central Missouri still was.
Made dinner in our room.
Driving through Oklahoma we witnessed a pretty bad car crash. Thankfully everyone was okay.
Austin
We spent three nights in Austin. The first night we spent with Laura’s cousins Lindsay and Erik. They took us to a hip restaurant and gave us great tips on things to do in Austin. Unfortunately, we forgot to take a photo with them, but we were so glad to see them. The next two nights we stayed with an old friend of Camrin’s, Brandy. She was super kind and drove us around town for a tour. Austin is a super cool city! Traffic is a bit crazy, but it is still one of our favorite cities we’ve been in.
Howdy!
Noted!
Graffiti Park at Castle Hill/ HOPE outdoor gallery.
Do you see Camrin?
Flagship Whole Paycheck… We mean Foods… Whole Foods. 😉
The store was huge, but we food the cheese samples!
Brandy treated us to her favorite Taco Truck.
And introduced us to the best sparkling water!
Sparky Park. Another random gem in Austin. This is basically just an art wall made of seashells that surrounds a cell phone tower.
A castle turned into an art museum.
A crazy toy store. This is the new second location. Apparently, Austin is obsessed with this place.
Ok. The kids in us think this place is pretty cool.
Mount Bonnel. A cool park with amazing views of the Colorado River.
People climbing on the pergola to get a view of the sunset.
Sunset Time!
Beer Time!
The Next Morning
Having an outdoor breakfast at Joes
Which is also home to the famous “I love you so much” mural.
A cool swimming hole in the Middle of the city.
A nice place to relax.
Plus we liked the storm drains.
Strolling down the river.
Now on top of the bridge. This bridge is an amazing pedestrian bridge where we stopped to eat our lunches.
Plus, we got to see a rowing crew go by,
Like most big cities Austin is booming. New buildings going up everywhere.
Street Art!
On our walk back to the car along the river, we saw a wild swan. Crazy!
We met up with Brandy after her work at the coolest LGBT bar, Cheer Up Charlies.
And it had great murals.
Back at Brandy’s Laura snuggled Cyrus Coltraine to pieces.
Nice group shot.
That’s better!
Thanks again to our family and friends who hosted us in Austin. We had a great time!
Thanks for reading our blog! Up next… Our stay at The Eco-Ranch!
