New Friends – Montana Folk Festival
Bozeman to Butte, Montana
We are on our way to Butte for a folk festival, but we need to do laundry and get groceries. So, we stop in hip Bozeman. While there we message the two sisters we met in the Tetons, Gabby and Daisy, that we are in town and ask if they want to meet up for a beer. Well, we end up getting dinner and then another new friend from the Tetons shows up Jeff, and then we realize we can leave yet. Gabby and Daisy were so kind in letting us crash at their place. Even while they were in the midst of moving.
We all go out for drinks, stay up late watching a stupid movie, and Camrin and Jeff partake in a drinking challenge that is popular with the college kids.
The next morning we have breakfast at the amazing Feed Cafe where Daisy works.
After breakfast we said goodbye again to Jeff and us ladies explored main street.
Bozeman you kinda weird.
Then it’s on to Butte! Butte is host to the Montana Folk Festival. We had no idea what to expect. Butte isn’t the fanciest town in Montana. In fact, it’s home to the Berkely Pit, which is a sad place to be if you love the environment. However, Kat and Jake (another of Laura’s former MCC co-workers) were going to be there and it was free!
It ended up being a super cool festival. There was music from all over the world. It took over the whole downtown and incorporated some of the old mining structures. They even let people camp for free in the local city parks.
Here are a bunch of pics from the festival.
