Sept. 25-27th – Mt. Hood Nat. Forest

September 25th – 27th, 2017

Mt. Hood National Forest

Government Camp, Oregon

A two-hour drive East from Portland is beautiful Mt. Hood.  Mt. Hood is surrounded by millions of acres of National Forest, which means lots of free camping.  We found a sweet campsite tucked into the woods with a creek, nearby hiking trails, and awesome views of Mt. Hood.  We liked it so much we stayed for three nights.

Here are some photos of our stay!

Getting closer! Snow on the peak already.
Our campsite!
Camrin working on a new project.
Making a new leather cover for the ax.

Spending a day relaxing and working on our hobbies.
Ax works great!
We also went for a walk. It was a dreary day so we couldn’t see much of the mountain.
But we found a creepy old grave site.
And some creepy manequins detering us away from private property.
And this sweet cabin. Looks like our dream home.
Our nighbors and their sweet van.
Tina through the woods.
And another view.

The next morning we awoke to find that a critter got inside of our Jeep.  We had to pull everything out and we still couldn’t find it.  We think we have a hole and there are some smart mice in Mt. Hood.

Uh Oh

What a pain in the butt!

Time for a day hike!

Nearby “pay” campground that we could walk to. It has the start of a hiking trail.
Duck!

Cool Sign.
Another Duck!

It was a short hike. Back to the campsite.

Laura took a quick shower and dried off in the sun with the solar panel.
We walked the same nearby path as yesterday, but today the sun is shining and the views were epic.

Also found some mushrooms. This one is adorable!

Camrin clumsily crossing a creek during our exploration.

This one is wierd.
So is this one.
That’s not a mushroom!

Parting Night shots!

Enjoying a warm campfire.

Thanks for reading our blog!  Next up… Bend, Oregon!
