August 19 – Seattle

Several Dates in August 2017

Seattle

Washington

While staying at the Tree Farm we had our weekends free to explore, so we got a chance to see Seattle. Two of Laura’s former Americorps crewmates live in Seattle and welcomed us to their homes.  We had a great time seeing old friends and seeing the sites. We visited Pike’s place, of course, a brewery, had a picnic in a park and did general wandering around.  The second weekend there we even got to see an amazing acoustic concert in an old church.

Seattle really is an amazing city.  It’s probably one of our favorite cities so far.  It’s big, but not too big.  It’s home to some major companies, including the headquarters for our favorite store, REI. It’s easy to see this city is booming.  Also, weed is legal, but our parents read this blog so we won’t get into that.

Here are our photos from our time in Seattle!

Starting things off. Man on a weird scooter with an ipad.
That’s Dan in the blue shirt. He used to work with Laura. He gave us a tour of the city on our first day in town. We started with the gum wall.
That’s right a gum wall. This is near Pikes Place and thousands of people stick their gum to the sides of the alley. It’s gross.
And it’s beautiful.
Up at Pikes Place, aka the Public Market is the famous fish stall.
This is where they throw fish around. They don’t throw the fish unless someone buys one. It was also packed, so this was the best we could do for an action shot.
The first Starbucks!  All apart of Pikes Place
Naughty logo 😉
Sweet balcony on the back side of the market overlooking the Puget Sound.
Looking back at the market.
Ahh, the underbelly of the Public Market. This is where all the oddity stores are found.
Like this store. Wall to wall figurines for sale.

The iconic tourist shot!
Beer time! Seapine!
After beers, Dan took us to a local meat store. This was out front. I guess we thought it was amazing. Dan was not impressed.
The next morning we went out to BRUNCH! Next to Camrin is Dan’s wife, Janna, Dan, and Diane. Diane was another Americorps member Laura once worked with.
Cool place. Part record store part restaurant.
Oops!

Time to go exploring!
Urban Forest
REI! Where dreams come true. Just Kidding. But this being the flagship store there were a lot of awesome displays.

New Amazon building.
Space Needle.

So that was our first weekend in Seattle.  Here are the second-weekend pics!

Thai dinner!
Oooh!
Seattle Acoustic Festival!!! Diane’s bf plays in a band.
These guys were amazing. The lead singer has the voice of an angel! We highly recommend you check them out… Among Authors !!
Back at Diane’s Laura found the house cat… of course!
Next day we explore the neighborhood just North of downtown. We had a picnic in the Gasworks park that overlooks the city skyline. It was awesome.
In Gasworks park.
