August 28- 31st – Colchuck Lake

August 28th – 31st

Snoqualmie to The Enchantments Area

Washington

This mural is from the opening credits of the show.

Ok, so we have to warn our readers.  Laura is a huge fan of the television show Twin Peaks and we stopped by a few filming locations that are a few hours outside of Seattle and on our way to our next hiking destination.  Twin Peaks is a totally weird show and it just came back for a third season after being off the air for 25 plus years.  We only spent a few hours in the area, but Laura had the time of her life!

Here are the  pics from our Twin Peaks Experience.  And a few comparison shots from the show.

The iconic Snoqualmie Falls. Iconic shot through out the tv series.

The mountain view that can be seen from North Bend. Its in the mural Laura is standing in front of a few images back.

Enough nerding out.  It’s time to make our way to the area in Washington known as The Enchanments.  Specifically we will be camping a few miles outside of a town called Leavenworth in the Wenatchee National Forest.  The hike we will do will take us up to Colchuck lake.  Its a steep 5 miles up to the lake and back down.  It is a beautiful area.  Too bad a nearby forest fire made for some hazy days.

Here are our photos from Colchuck lake and nearby area.

Onwards… Looks like a fire is nearby.
Yep. It’s only 3 in the afternoon.
Sweet ride in the parking lot for the trail head.
Found this note posted in the pit toilet. Maybe a little passive agressive.  It wasn’t that bad.
This was in the other pit. Its from 2015!  Time to just take the note down, that door ain’t gettin fixed.
Wilderness Time!
DEER!

Clear skies as we get higher.
Lots of people on the trail today.
Rock stairs :/
Made it to Colchuck Lake! Beautiful!!
“Is that a mountain goat?!” “No it’s just a rock” We’ve been wanting to see Mountain Goats for months with no sign of them.
Tried to make a stiched panoramic.
What’s she photographing?
FISH!!
Ummmm…. Camrin…. you have something on your pants. Don’t freak out. It’s nothing. Yikes!! That was a big bug!
This little guy tried to steal our lunches.
One more view.
Waterfall!
Cooling off!

WOW! The wind is blowing the smoke from a nearby fire back to us. It’s pretty erry.
Its like dusk at 2pm.
Back down the mountain.

A red sun in the afternoon
Back down at our campsite we did some exploring.  Big Boulder.
Hazy sunset.

Nice place to camp for the night.

The next day we made our way down to the town of Leavenworth, WA.  This small town is tucked way up in the mountains in central Washington.  This town is unique because all of the buildings are in scandinavian and bavarian style.  Its a fun tourist trap town with plenty of shopping and restaurants.  We only stayed for a few hours.

Onwards to our next campsite.  Located in the eastern part of Washington not too far away from Yakima.  We camped near a river.  Its not too exciting, but we took a day to rest and while doing so we cut each others hair.  That was pretty much a disaster.

I guess she wanted to it herself.
Oh No!     Haha
Camrin cleaned our site. Some people are jerks in the wild.
We can’t have campfires becasue it is way too dry, so we lit a candle in a tin.

That’s all for now.  Thanks for reading our blog.  Up next, Mt. Ranier National Park!
