September 1st – Mt Ranier National Park

September 1st – 2nd

Mt. Ranier National Park

Washington

We made our way to Mt Ranier National park for a few days of hiking.  We came to the park via the south-east entrance, but because of nearby wildfires and road closers, we were confined to this side of the park, unless we were to drive way out of the way, which we didn’t.  Never the less, Mt Ranier is a beautiful park with Ranier being the central focus of the park.  Mt Ranier is the tallest mountain in Washington and is the 4th tallest peak in the U.S.

Our first day in the park we drove to the visitor center in the park called Paradise.  We ran into road construction but still managed to find a place to park and do a short day hike.   After our hike near the peak, we did another short hike through an old growth forest that had a cool swing bridge.  We got really lucky with our campsite for the night.  Right outside of the park is a National Forest.  Well, about a mile outside of the park was a gravel road so we chanced and went up it.  About half a mile up the gravel road was a huge camp area in the lush woods.  We were super close to the park entrance which was great for the short drive down the next day.

The next morning we did a pleasant out and back day hike in the woods.  We saw a beautiful waterful and lots of fungus.  Plus it was nice to do a hike in the shade.

Here are our pics from Mt Ranier National Park!
